About Us

Our Mission

At Berwyn Early Learning Academy, we believe childhood is the perfect time to grow curious minds, kind hearts, and brave spirits. Every day, we feed children’s natural wonder, help them explore the world around them–and the wondrous parts they can’t always see– while we cheer them on as they try new things and rise to new challenges. We work hand-in-hand with families to support each child’s journey because raising amazing adults is something a community does together! As a ministry of Berwyn United Methodist Church, our center is deeply rooted in the church’s mission to welcome and serve all families with love, care and purpose–nurturing young children while strengthening the community we call home.

Non-Discrimination and Inclusion Statement

At BELA we are dedicated to providing equal educational opportunities for all children, without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, gender, age, ethnicity, religion, disability, or any other consideration made unlawful by federal, state or local laws. In alignment with OCDELS commitment to support the inclusion of children with disabilities as active members in early childhood programs and community settings, our educational programs are designed to meet the varying needs of all students and we strive to offer a program that fits the needs of our students and their families. We believe that every child deserves the same opportunities for participation, acceptance, and belonging and will do our best to partner with families to provide them.

Hours of Operation

Our center is open Monday through Friday from 7am until 5:30 pm.

Holidays

Families will receive a school calendar that outlines closures and observations. Reminders will be available in our newsletter and communication app. Please look carefully at our school calendar for closures.

Communication

Open communication between parents and staff is essential to ensuring we are working together to help our students succeed. Our teachers will use the Class Dojo app to communicate with families. Our Preschool program will use this platform exclusively to showcase learning in the classroom. Students in younger classrooms will also receive a daily sheet that outlines diaper changes, meals, naps, and medication information. These classrooms will also use the Class Dojo app to highlight classroom learning and experiences. Families will receive an academic school year calendar in September with all major dates. A center newsletter will be sent via email to families seasonally for upcoming events and date reminders.

Child Abuse Policy

All BELA staff members are required by state regulations to obtain FBI Fingerprint, a State Police record check, and Child Abuse Clearances. Our staff members are considered mandated child abuse reporters and are required to report any suspected child abuse or neglect directly to Childline, under the Child Protective Services Act.
